The “More Like Milk” Concept

Schools promote milk because the key nutrients in milk are important.  In fact, USDA recommends that children consume three glasses of milk per day.  But, many children either can’t drink milk due to allergies or lactose intolerance or simply won’t drink milk and many more won’t drink the recommended three glasses per day.  Maybe that’s why calcium deficiency ranges from 90 to 95% for female ages 9 to 18, for example.  These statistics are even worse for minorities due to a higher incidence of lactose intolerance.  With 70% of calcium consumption in the U.S. coming from dairy products, kids that don’t drink milk are at a significant disadvantage.

What are schools offering in addition to milk for those kids that either can’t or won’t drink milk or soy milk?  What are kids choosing instead?

What if other drinks were nutritionally more like milk?

Riptide beverages are formulated based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines to complement milk.  They’re similar to skim milk in nutrient-density and contain many of the same foundational nutrients, so they’re ”More Like Milk” than traditional beverages, resulting in a measurable nutritional benefit for the children.
